On Sunday 15th May, at Denham GC, an Old Glenalmond team consisting of Mo McEachran, Willie White, Fergus Skinner, Niall Booker, Karl Frey and led by Peter Gordon attempted to qualify for the Grafton Morrish finals, that will be held in Norfolk this coming October, at the same time as our annual meeting in Elie.

The good news is that the players will have that weekend free to be able to come to Elie and attend the annual weekend, as sadly they did not quite manage to qualify, coming a respectable 9th out of 12, with at least 5 and possibly six qualifying.

My thanks to the team, especially those who came out at relatively short notice to play. I gather it was a bit wet on Sunday, but otherwise, it was a good day.

This is the start of a run of fixtures in the south coming up. We have the OGGS English day on Wednesday 8th June (please look out for an email from me on that one), followed by the Royal Wimbledon Putting in the evening of the 8th. Both events are at Royal Wimbledon so I'd encourage as many of you as possible to make a day of it!

The following week on the 14th of June is the Anniesland Trophy at Denham, which is run by the London Scottish Schools Golfing Society (http://www.lssgs.co.uk/). The event consists of an 18-hole stableford in the morning, lunch, a 9-hole greensome competition in the afternoon, followed by tea and prize-giving, finishing around 6.30 pm. Any golfers who may wish to play for Glenalmond should send an e-mail to Tim Paterson-Brown (timpb@ferisfinance.co.uk) We can put in teams of 4, and if there are spare players, they can enter the Wanderers team.
