More than 75 Glenalmond pupils embraced the great outdoors this weekend as they took part in this year’s Munro Challenge, scaling some of Scotland’s most iconic peaks.
Groups headed out to conquer a range of Munros, including Driesh, Mayar, Ben MacDui, Schiehallion, Gael-Charn, The Cairnwell, and Ben Vorlich. By spreading climbs across several different hills, pupils were able to select a level of challenge that suited them individually, while also reducing environmental impact on any one route.
With the dramatic Scottish Highlands just a short journey from Glenalmond, the Munro Challenge is a much-loved tradition- and this year’s turnout reflected the spirit of adventure that thrives within the school community.
"It was incredibly inspiring to see so many pupils give up their Sunday to take on this challenge," said one of the staff organisers. "From experienced hillwalkers to first-time Munro-baggers, there was a real sense of camaraderie and achievement."
A special congratulations goes to the four visiting pupils from Kingswood College, South Africa, who reached the summit of their very first Munro- a memorable milestone on their exchange experience.
Well done to all who took part- and here's to many more summits ahead!
