It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Clara Cameron, who left Glenalmond in 2019. She was 24 years old. There are many staff at Glenalmond who remember her well and with great affection; in the words of one of them, Clara “was the kindest, most wonderful girl you could ever know and was the life and soul of her year at Coll.”
I know that many of you will also know the Camerons and will be terribly upset by this tragic news. The family is very much in our thoughts and prayers.
Clara’s family live locally and their connection with Glenalmond goes all the way back to the 1890s when Clara’s great great grandfather was a pupil here. Clara’s grandfather, uncles and sisters also came to Coll.
Her parents, Charlie and Fiona, and sisters, Amy and Grace, have added the following:
'Clara died following a seizure in the early hours of Saturday 22nd February 2025 whilst working with the Africa Gap team in the Save (Saavay) park in Zimbabwe. She had developed a deep love of Africa over two prolonged trips and was at her absolute happiest under the huge skies, amongst the amazing wildlife and beauty. As a family, we are heartbroken but are taking solace from the joy she was experiencing right to the end. In an incredible letter to her family, she asked us all to remember her as she was and not as what she might have been. Hers was a life extremely well lived.'
There will be a colourful service of celebration and thanksgiving to which all are welcome, at Glenalmond College, midday on March 28th.
One of Clara's sisters - Grace had already planned to run the Madrid Marathon on 27th April in aid of Epilepsy Research - Clara helped her edit the page - at one point saying, 'Don't make it sound too serious G' . If anyone would like to donate to this amazing charity, then they can do so here....

More details about the service of celebration and thanksgiving will follow in due course.
