Obituaries

It is with sadness that we share the passing of James Forshaw, a former English teacher at Glenalmond College and a valued member of our wider community, on the 2nd of January 2026.

James was a kind and much-loved husband, father, brother, grandfather, father-in-law, friend and teacher. He had a deep appreciation for English literature and music- from the poetry of Seamus Heaney to the songs of The Rolling Stones- and he brought enthusiasm to every aspect of life. A keen supporter of rugby, James loved the outdoors and enjoyed dog walks, camping expeditions, songwriting, plays and concerts.

He touched the lives of many during his time at Glenalmond and beyond, and he will be greatly missed.

James is survived by his wife Frances and his children Marianne and Thomas.

A service to honour James’s life will take place at St Mary’s Scottish Episcopal Church, Birnam at 2.00pm on Thursday 29 January. All are welcome.
