We are saddened to report the death of Iain Duncan Campbell, who died on 16 May 2025, aged 80.
Duncan attended Glenalmond College (Skrine's 1958- 1962) before going on to study law at the University of Edinburgh, where he edited the student newspaper. He went on to forge a remarkable career in journalism, becoming one of the country’s leading crime correspondents. Best known for his long tenure at The Guardian from 1987 to 2010, Duncan was widely respected for his fairness, insight, and dedication to social justice.
In addition to his work in journalism, he authored several acclaimed books and was a steadfast advocate for equality and integrity in the media.
Duncan is survived by his wife, Julie Christie, as well as his brother, Niall, and his sister, Fiona. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
