A Journey Through Glenalmond’s Archives

Alumni news

Last Friday, we welcomed OGs, parents and friends of Glenalmond to a special Archive Evening, offering guests a chance to step inside the College’s archives and discover some of the fascinating treasures held within.

The evening began with drinks and canapés before guests explored a carefully curated selection of historic photographs, sporting memorabilia, school records and other objects spanning Glenalmond’s long history. From old school rules and OG sporting achievements to photographs and fascinating artefacts from years gone by, there was plenty to spark memories, conversations and a few surprises along the way.

A huge thank you to Eli McNeil for his incredible knowledge, enthusiasm and help in curating and delivering the evening. His passion for Glenalmond’s history really brought the collections to life. We are also incredibly grateful to the various members of staff who were on hand throughout the evening to share their own knowledge, stories and memories.

Thank you also to Thomas Franks for providing the wonderful catering for the evening, and to our fantastic Grounds team, who had the Quad looking absolutely beautiful. Even the weather played its part, with the sun deciding to come out just in time for the event!

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the evening such a lovely success. It was wonderful to see so much interest in Glenalmond’s history and to hear people sharing their own memories and connections with the College.

Get involved with the archives

There is still a huge amount to discover, catalogue and preserve, and we would love to involve more members of our OG community in this work. If you have a few hours to spare and would be interested in helping with digitising, cataloguing or researching material in the archives, we would be delighted to hear from you. You don't need to be an archivist or have any previous experience- just an interest in Glenalmond and its history!

This is just the beginning. We’re looking forward to continuing to explore, preserve and share more of the incredible stories and treasures held within the Glenalmond archives in the years ahead.
