Glenalmond College is excited to announce the completion of the first stage of its new mountain bike trail, thanks to the generous contributions of several donors. The first section, named Thornburn Trail, was officially opened in Summer 2024, marking a significant milestone for the school’s outdoor adventure offerings. The trail was unveiled by Charlie Aldridge, an Old Glenalmondian, who is a 2019 Junior World Champion, 2022 British National Champion, and 2023 U23 World Champion in mountain biking.
This new addition to the campus offers riders an exciting and challenging course that takes full advantage of the natural landscape around the college. The opening of Thornburn Trail has already generated enthusiasm among both students and staff, with plans in place to expand the trail network.
The second stage of the trail, Fraser Trail, is set to open in the coming weeks, further enhancing the mountain biking experience at Glenalmond. This new section will offer more varied terrain and additional features, allowing for even greater adventure and challenge for riders.
To celebrate the launch of these new trails, Glenalmond College will host a Mountain Bike Race for Senior Schools on March 22, 2025, followed by a Prep School event later in the year. Looking ahead, the school will also be hosting a National Mountain Bike Race in Summer 2026, cementing its place as a key venue for the sport.
