We are proud to share news of a remarkable new publication by OG, David Cant (Coll 1978–1983), whose book Unfinished Business offers a gripping, honest and at times darkly humorous account of his extraordinary career and personal journey.

David’s work with Russia over the years took him into a world rarely seen by outsiders - encountering everyone from royalty and politicians to intelligence services, all coloured with wit and insight. From brushes with MI6 to navigating complex dealings that touched on theft, fraud, and even murder, Unfinished Business is anything but a conventional memoir.

But David’s story goes beyond diplomacy and intrigue. His candid reflections also explore the impact of mental health challenges, particularly during the turbulence of the Covid era and a difficult family situation. With heartfelt honesty, he shares how these experiences shaped him- offering not only a compelling narrative but also a message of resilience.

Adding a final, cinematic twist to his story, the book ends with a transatlantic sail culminating in his car exploding upon arrival in St Lucia- a dramatic conclusion befitting a life lived boldly.

In support of others facing mental health struggles, a portion of proceeds from Unfinished Business will be donated to the UK mental health charity SANE.

“It’s not a beach read,” David says, “but I hope it makes people laugh, think, and maybe feel a little less alone.”

You can read more about David and his upcoming appearances, including events with the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, here.
