Glenalmond College is delighted to announce the appointment of former Scotland international WP Nel to its rugby coaching team.
Nel, who takes on the role of Forwards Coach with a particular focus on the College’s Senior Rugby teams, brings a wealth of international and professional experience to Glenalmond.
Still playing professionally with Stirling County, WP Nel won more than 60 caps for Scotland, representing his country at three Rugby World Cups, and made over 200 appearances for Edinburgh Rugby.
His arrival further strengthens Glenalmond’s already robust rugby provision under Head of Rugby, and Cyprus International, Marcus Holden. He will work to support the development of forwards’ play and technical skills.
Commenting on the appointment, Glenalmond’s Director of Sport and PE, said: “We are thrilled to welcome WP Nel to the Glenalmond rugby coaching team. His international pedigree and deep knowledge of the game will be invaluable to our players, and we know he will inspire the next generation of Glenalmond rugby talent.”
WP Nel said: “"I’m excited to join Glenalmond and to work with the school’s young players. Rugby has given me so much and I’m looking forward to passing on my experience to help them to develop their game and to coach our next generation of rugby players.”
Glenalmond College has a proud rugby tradition, with many former pupils going on to play at the highest levels of the game including former Scotland captain, Rob Wainwright. The addition of WP Nel to the coaching team marks another exciting step in the College’s commitment to nurturing sporting excellence.
