To celebrate Glenalmond College’s 175th anniversary, Kilchoman and Ardnamurchan distilleries were commissioned to blend a one-off vatting of just one cask each.
George, James, and Peter Wills of Kilchoman, along with Alex Bruce of Adelphi (Ardnamurchan’s parent company) are all OGs and were delighted to have been asked to create this limited Blended Malt Scotch Whisky. Interestingly, Sir William Gladstone, who founded the school in 1847, was also instrumental in future-proofing the Scotch whisky industry by delaying taxation until whisky had sufficiently matured and was ready to bottle. A subsequent Punch cartoon of him dancing for joy over ears of barley and several law books was adopted by Ardnamurchan’s Adelphi Distillery Limited in 1993 and has remained as their principal logo ever since.
Bottled at 52.0% vol, The Glenalmond 175 Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is made up of 1 peated barrel of Kilchoman from 2014, no. 974 and 1 unpeated barrel of Ardnamurchan from 2015, no. 155. The total outturn was just 553 bottles. Proceeds from the sale of each bottle will be donated to Glenalmond College in support of transformational bursaries.
