Now in its tenth year, the Heartbreak Run has become one of Glenalmond College’s most iconic and eagerly anticipated traditions.
Taking place on the final Sunday of the Michaelmas Term, the 8.3-mile route takes runners through the beautiful- and often brutal- terrain of the Logiealmond Estate, climbing over 1,100 feet, including the legendary ascent known simply as “The Quarry.”
Whatever the weather- snow, rain, or ice- the Glenalmond spirit endures. Last year, nearly 70 runners took part, including pupils, staff, OGs, and even a four-legged companion. The 2024 event also saw history made, with OG and Scotland competitor Harris Pagett setting a new course record of 50:37, smashing the previous time by nearly four minutes.
The run finishes at Front Arch, where a crowd of supporters cheers each runner across the line- and this year, a warm meal in the Dining Hall awaits all finishers.
Whether you're running, cheering, or supporting from afar, the Heartbreak Run is all about challenge, community, and College pride.
